Snow-covered stone gate at the entrance of an estate in the Eastern Townships

Guide: second homes

Leave worry-free, arrive to a home that’s ready

Cottage in the Eastern Townships or home in Florida: here is how to keep an eye on the house when you're away, and find it ready when you arrive.

It starts with the network

To see and control a home remotely, you need a reliable network that doesn't drop when nobody is there. We install a Ubiquiti UniFi network we can monitor and restart remotely.

What you can do from afar

See the house

UniFi Protect cameras at the entrances and on the grounds, viewed in one app.

Set the heat

Warm up the cottage before you arrive, or turn it down as you leave.

Look lived-in

Lights and shades that move in the evening, as if someone were home.

Get alerts

An alert for a water leak, a power outage or a door left open.

On departure day, one button

The "Leave" scene turns off the lights, lowers the shades, sets the heat and locks the doors. When you return, the "Arrive" scene lights the entrance and starts the music.

A team that watches too

Our support service monitors systems remotely and fixes most issues without a visit. In Quebec and in Florida, we have a team on site when a visit is needed.

Frequently asked questions

Do the cameras need a subscription?

No. With UniFi Protect, footage is stored at home, with no monthly subscription.

Can I manage both homes in the same app?

Yes. The Lutron, Sonos and UniFi apps handle several properties. Add Crestron or Control4 and it all comes together in one app.

What happens during a power outage?

We can plan backup power for the network and alert you as soon as power drops or comes back.
